In the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam the so-called Lombard album is being kept, which has ca. 100 drawings of animals. One of these drawings was made by an anonymous artist with paintbrush on paper; the size of the paper is h 35 x w 292 mm. This drawing is dated ca. 1560–1585 [1].

The drawing shows a slug, undoubtedly Limax maximus Linnaeus, 1758. Figures of Limacidae are quite rare during this century (Dr Dolf van Bruggen, pers. commun.), and this is one of the few found so far.
