This oil-painting “Still-life with flowers and a watch” was made by Abraham Mignon (1640–1679) and is dated c.1660–1679. It is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
In the lower corner, a snail is at the edge of the table. It has a dextral shell with a spiral colour pattern and is naturalistically painted. Betweenthe flowers on the vase a second specimen may be noticed. Undoubtedly two colour variations of a Cepaea species (likely C. nemoralis) was used to model.
