This Book of Hours à l’usage de Chalon-sur-Saône, originated from the early 16th century (1501-1510); the illuminations are attributed to Guillaume II Leroy and his studio. It is in the Bibliothèque Municipale in Lyon [1].

On folio 72v a snail is seen in the border at left. The animal is somewhat stylized, with an eye-spot, seemingly close friends with a ladybug. The sinistral shell has impressions of ribs, nearly three whorls; this is an imaginary species.
