Jan Miel (1599 – 1663/1664) is a Flemish painter and engraver, who – although probably born in Flanders – worked during his active life in Italy [1]. This oil painting on linen is in the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Lille, and is known under the title “Marchand d’escargots” [2].

This is an old image and of insufficient detail to view any details. However, the scene is people trading snails; likely this was made somewhere in the Italian countryside.
