This horn pipe case was sculptured by an anonymous artist in Japon during the 18th century. It is now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy . On both sides stems and leaves of bamboo are seen, while at one side a snail is visible.
This dextral specimen has two tentacles only, and is stylised. The species is thus unidentifiable.
