A flower still life with snail might have been of declining popularity when this oil paint was made in 1713. It is attributed to Maria Withoos and is now in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, Exeter [1, 2].
The snail in the foreground is a dextral specimen and looks like a Cepaea species.

According to data of RKD, Maria Withoos was born 1863 and died presumably between 1699 and 1710. A later date might be based on an interchange with her sister Alida; http://explore.rkd.nl/explore/artists/85145.
