This painting on silk, dated early 17th century, is attributed to the Korean artist Shin, Sa-im-tang (active late 16th cent.-early 17th cent.). It is now in the Harvard Art Museums/Arthur M. Sackler Museum, Louise Haskell Daly Fund and Ernest B. and Helen Pratt Dane Fund for the Acquisition of Oriental Art .
The snail is only sketchy, and the animal seems to be long, with only two tentacles shown. The shell does not show the aperture, but the coiling seems to be sinistral.
