Design for a knife handle with Charity personified as a full-length female figure holding a child in her left arm and another at her right side, in an oval, above a candelabrum with squirrels and snails in blackwork. This engraving was made by Theodor de Bry in the late 16th century [1].

Two snails are symmetrically positioned along the central axis, one dextral and one sinistral. They are both rather stylised, with two tentacles.
