In the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge U.K., this oil paint with a flower still life has been made by Jacob Marellus in 1640 . This painter is also known as Jacob Marrel (1613/1614–1681) .
On the left side of the table, a snail is seen with its head lifted. As Marrel was a pupil of George Flegel and Jan Davidsz. de Heem, it should not surprise the shape of the snail resembles ones seen on Flegel’s works (e.g., here). Possibly also this study from Flegel (dated 1638 ) may have inspired Marrel.
