“Acedia” is the title on this engraving, issued in 1575 by Adriaan Huybrechts in Antwerp, but possibly designed by Frans Floris (I). This painter, draftsman and designer of tappistries lived 1519/1520–1570 in Antwerp [1]. The engraving is part of the collection in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam [2].

The snail is quite stylised, the shell with a wide aperture, the animal with a hint of an eye-spot. Illustrated as sinistral specimen, which is undoubtly mirrored after the original model.
